Waterville Man Changes Plea in Planned Chicago Mosque Attacks

Xavier Pelkey, 19, of Waterville is facing up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He is accused of planning attacks on several Chicago mosques.

FBI agents discovered three homemade explosive devices in a backpack after searching his Waterville apartment in February of 2021. Isis flags were also discovered in his home.

Pelkey initially pleaded not guilty in April of 2022. In Nov. of 2022 he was indicted on an additional count of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists.

NewsCenterMaine.com says his change of plea hearing is scheduled for April 7 in Bangor.
