The Humane Society Waterville Area has had to close their cat wing because an outbreak of a virus. CentralMaine.com says 11 cats are confirmed to have feline calicivirus at the Webb Road shelter.
The virus is contagious to other cats and can cause mild to severe respiratory infections and also oral diseases.
The hope is to re-open the cat win within the next few weeks.
