Amber Robbins, 35, of Tremont was struck and killed by a vehicle as she walked along Main Street in Southwest Harbor, June 10.

The driver of the vehicle who struck Robbins did not stop. It wasn’t until Sunday, June 11, 2023 at approximately 11:37 am, when a passerby noticed Robbins in a ditch and called 911. According to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) Robbins died of blunt force trauma. On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit-North received an arrest warrant for 31-year-old John Holdsworth of Hancock for the crime of Manslaughter. On Thursday morning , July 27, 2023, Holdsworth was arrested and transported to the Hancock County Jail. His initial court appearance is expected to be on Friday, July 28, 2023. The case is being prosecuted by the Hancock County District Attorney’s Office.
