18-year-old Zach Turner of Unity was seriously injured in an ATV crash on the Kenney Road in Brooks, Monday, July 3.

On Monday, July 3, 2023 at approximately 5:22 pm, Trooper’s responded to a serious personal injury crash on the Kenney Road in Brooks. An ATV being operated on a public way crashed and rolled over multiple times coming to rest partially in the roadway. The operator, a 17-year old male from Monroe was transported to Waldo County General Hospital for minor injuries. The passenger 18-year-old Zach Turner of Unity was flown by Lifeflight to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor with life threatening injuries. Speed and alcohol are believed to have been contributing factors to the crash. The Maine Forest Service, Maine Warden Service and Brooks Fire and Ambulance all assisted on scene. This incident is under investigation by the Maine State Police Central Field Troop along with a Crash Reconstructionist with the Traffic Safety Unit. Zach Turner’s condition remains critical. The operator of the ATV is not being named as he is a juvenile.
