From the State Police:
On Monday, April 4, around 10:45 a.m. the Richmond fire Department responded to an underground fuel tank explosion at the Quick Stop near exit 43 in Richmond. It was determined that a passenger car had just driven over the underground fuel tank when the explosion occurred.
Investigators with the Fire Marshal’s office were called to the scene. Representatives from the Department of Environmental Protection and Service Technicians were also on scene.
There are no reported injuries and there is no damage to the business or vehicles. The incident remains under investigation.
Assisting with the response were members from the Litchfield Fire Department, Woolrich Fire Department, Bowdoinham Fire Department, Richmond PD, Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine State Police.
