Special Olympics Maine’s Winter Games in Auburn

More than 500 athletes, coaches and supporters ar kicking off this year’s Special Olympics Maine annual Winter Games.

Starting today, Feb. 28 and continuing tomorrow, Feb. 29 in Auburn, participants from across the state will compete in speed skating, cross country skiing, alpine skiing and snowshoeing, along with the opening ceremonies and a dinner and dance.

Schedule of events:

Wednesday, Feb. 28:
10 a.m.-1 p.m.: Speed Skating at Norway Savings Bank Arena, 985 Turner St., Auburn
5:30-8:30 p.m.: Dinner and Dance at Edward Little High School, 77 Harris St., Auburn

Thursday, Feb. 29:
8:30 a.m.: Opening Ceremonies at Lost Valley, 200 Lost Valley Road, Auburn
9 a.m.-2 p.m.: Cross Country Skiing, Alpine Skiing and Snowshoeing at Lost Valley, 200 Lost Valley Road, Auburn
