The last tune-up game for Lawrence saw them walking back to the dugout all game. Silas Tibbetts, Noah McMahon, and Brayden Bellerose combined for a one-hit domination of the Bulldogs, with 17 strikeouts in seven innings. That was more than enough for the 6-0 Skowhegan win.
The Bulldogs’ pitching staff only surrendered seven hits, eight strikeouts of their own, but Skowhegan blew the game open in the final inning. Chance Tibbets opened the inning with an infield hit before an error allowed him to score and put Quincey McCray on second base. McMahon then doubled him home before Tyler Annis jacked a homerun to left center field.
McMahon finished 2-4 with two doubles, two RBIs, a run, and a strikeout to go along with two innings pitched and six strikeouts. Annis was 1-1 with a HR, RBI, run, two walks, and a hit-by-pitch. Starting pitcher Silas Tibbetts went four innings to open the game and had eight strikeouts and three walks as he dominated in the exhibition.
Hunter Lee went only two innings to start and is expected to start the season opener for Lawrence. Lee struck out three and walked one while only giving up one hit. He also had the only hit for the Bulldogs. Coach Russell Mercier got everyone into the game with five different pitchers making an appearance and 16 different batters getting at least one at-bat.
Skowhegan opens their season at Hampden Tuesday. Lawrence opens their season vs Winslow Tuesday.
