State lawmakers are discussing new potential bills to change the Maine State flag.
According to WGME, House Majority Leader Maureen Terry said. “We are in a time when a farmer is not a man, necessarily, a fishermen definitely isn’t a man [necessarily] and [we] wanted the state seal to reflect that.”
Terry said a constituent reached out to her about updating the current flag, which was created in 1820.
