UPDATE:
On Tuesday, March 16, the Maine State Police Major Crime’s North was called to assist Ellsworth PD at a death scene on Bayside Rd. in Ellsworth. Investigation has shown that Kathie Cote was found deceased in her home.
As is common practice, when the cause or manner of death is not clear, the Major Crimes Unit is called to help determine the circumstances. In this case, Cote was transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner where an autopsy was completed today, March 17. The results of the autopsy are pending toxicology but at this point it does not show anything suspicious.
The investigation has determined that Cote was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and out of respect for the family, no further information will be released.

In an update from the Maine State Police Tuesday afternoon, spokesperson Shannon Moss said an autopsy will take place on Wednesday at the Office of the Medical Examiner in Augusta. More information will be available after the autopsy is completed. https://t.co/2jY3IONgWM
