UPDATE: Driver Identified in Augusta Crash

UPDATE: The driver in Monday’s crash in Augusta is 19-year-old Jack Duncan of Newcastle. Duncan remains in critical condition at Maine Medical Center.

UPDATE: The victim in the Turnpike fatal in York has been positively identified as 33-year-old Matthew Breton of Cumberland.

The Maine State Police are investigating a single vehicle crash this morning, Feb. 26, on Interstate 95 near mile marker 113 in Augusta.

Officials say that the initial investigation indicated that a silver 2003 Toyota Tacoma being operated by a 19-year-old NewCastle man was traveling northbound when his vehicle went off the road, into the median and struck a tree.

The driver was transported to Maine General Hospital in Augusta with life threatening injuries. He was later sent via Lifeflight to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Speed and inclement weather/road conditions at the time are considered factors in the crash.
