No Surprise: Another Amazing Performance Puts Maine’s Julia Gagnon in American Idol’s Top Twelve (Video)

By Jon James|

Another performance, this one just beautiful, by Julia Gagnon of Cumberland, has put the singer in the top twelve in the American Idol competition.

Sunday, she performed Whitney Houston’s Run To You and was magnificent!

For some reason, I thought the music was too loud and drowned her out as I watched last night but, viewing the video here, I’m guessing it was my tv settings. Maybe you noticed the same thing.

So, another night tonight and, I expect, another advance to the top ten!

The other singer I, personally, am watching is Emmy Russell, granddaughter of the late Loretta Lynn. After all, I AM a country radio jock…but I am, of course, still rooting for Julia 100%!

Emmy’s song choice was I Can’t Make You Love Me, a Bonnie Raitt classic. Her voice was very powerful, I thought, in this rendition. I’ve included her performance here as well.

Finally, I was delighted to see that Sunday’s coach was a rocker from my youth, Gene Simmons from KISS.

All due respect to Gene…but it seems clear why he wore all that makeup, imho. 🙂

Let’s watch together tonight…along with Julia’s folks in Cumberland and her future parents-in-law from Waterville!

And speaking of family, in case you missed it, Julia’s fiancé’ made a cameo appearance on phone carried out by Ryan Seacrest at the end of the performance. A nice touch, I thought.

EMMY RUSSELL, I CAN’T MAKE YOU LOVE ME
