Maine Supreme Court Finds Sunday Hunting Prohibition Constitutional

The Maine Supreme Court today decided in a lawsuit challenging the Sunday hunting prohibition. The Law Court held that the right to hunt for food created by the “Right to Food” amendment does not extend to illegal hunting, and it upheld the Sunday hunting prohibition as constitutional.

This the latest of many different suits over the years to end the ban. All have failed.

Maine first banned Sunday hunting in 1883.
