The two victims of a shooting incident in Lewiston on Sunday, July 30, have been identified as Mohammed Sheik, 30, of Auburn and Keyt Hussein, 23, of Lewiston.
On Sunday, July 30, 2023, shortly after 10:18 am, the Lewiston Police Department responded to a shooting complaint on Knox Street in Lewiston. One individual died on Knox Street and the second person died at Central Maine Medical Center after being transported from the scene. The State Police and Lewiston Police are currently investigating the matter involving the two victims. The bodies of the two victims were transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where on Monday, July 31, 2023 a post mortem examination was conducted. The identity of the two individuals has been confirmed as 30-year-old Mohammed Sheik of Auburn and 23-year-old Keyt Hussein of Lewiston. The cause and manner of death for both individuals has been determined to be gunshot wounds and both have been categorized as homicide. The investigation has shown this to be an isolated incident. Investigators have spoken to people of interest and continue to process evidence from the scene.
