33-year-old George St. Amand has been arrested and is being charged with arson after a fire at his home on School Street, Stonington on Wednesday, May 16.
From the Maine State Police:
…at approximately 11:07am the Stonington Fire Department was dispatched to a residential fire at 31 School Street in Stonington. After extinguishing the fire, the Fire Department requested the assistance of the Fire Marshal’s office. FMO investigators responded to the scene and conducted an investigation, which resulted in an arrest.
FMO investigators arrested the home owner, 33 year old George St. Amand. St. Amand was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Hancock County Jail. He is expected to make his initial appearance on Friday. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the arrest.
