This morning, Nov. 14, skeletal remains were found in the woods off the Red Bridge Road in Ellsworth. The investigation is on going.

On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at approximately 8:55 am the Maine State Police was notified by the Ellsworth Police Department of the discovery of human skeletal remains. Commercial land surveyors discovered the remains in the woods off the Red Bridge Road in Ellsworth. The Maine State Police’s Major Crimes Unit North responded to assist with the investigation. The remains were transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death. There is currently no risk to the public. The investigation is ongoing. No additional information is available at this time.
