Flood Safety Recommendations

Most of the state today, Aug. 8, is under a flood warning or flood watch. The National Weather Service says, “Rounds of showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain will continue to impact the region through this evening. Soaking rain will effect all areas, with the highest rainfall amounts focused along and southeast of the mountains. High rainfall rates will support rapid runoff and flash flooding.

According to MEMA, “Flooding is a temporary overflow of water onto land that is normally dry. Floods are the most common natural disaster in the United States. Failing to evacuate flooded areas or entering flood waters can lead to injury or death.”
