Fatal Fire in Newport

Yesterday morning, March 12, a fire started at 578 Mullen Road in Newport. Two people who lived in the home were home at the time of the fire, a mother and son. The homeowner, a female, survived. Her son, 54-year-old Allen Easley did not survive.

The Newport Fire Department requested the assistance of the State Fire Marshal’s Office at 10:00 am to investigate the fire. Investigators arrived and processed the scene for the duration of the day.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
