Fatal Fire in Monroe Being Investigated

The deceased is believed to be 86-year-old Alan Grover, who lived at the scene of a fire on Clements Road in Monroe, last night, Nov. 12.

From the Maine State Police:

On Sunday, November 12, 2023, at approximately 7:40 pm the Monroe Fire Department responded to a fire at 238 Clements Road in Monroe. The Fire Marshal’s Office (FMO) was contacted because the fire department believed that someone inside the residence had died as a result of the fire. FMO Investigators responded and located the remains of a deceased adult. The remains have been transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta. The deceased is believed to be 86-year-old Alan Grover who lived alone at the residence. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Assisting agencies on scene were the Brooks, Jackson, and West Frankfort Fire Departments, Brooks Ambulance, and Maine State Police.
