Augusta is looking to enter the record books? The Augusta Civic Center is trying to break the world record for the Largest Gathering of Elvis Impersonators.
The goal is to get more than 1200 people to dress up like The King and sing “Hound Dog” in unison.
If you’re interested, meet on Aug. 15 from 5pm to 8pm at the Augusta Civic Center. Lyrics will be provided.

Costumes must be based on one of the three themes: Jailhouse Rock, Dressy Elvis or Jumpsuit Elvis.
Elvis’s first and only Maine concert appearance was at the Augusta Civic Center was May 24, 1977.
The King of Rock and Roll was scheduled to appear in Portland on Aug 17, 1977. Elvis died on Aug. 16, 1977 at his Graceland estate in Memphis, Tenn. He was 42.

There will be a red carpet, complimentary hors D’oeuvres, a cash bar, and a live performance by Maine Elvis tribute artist Jessi Mallory.
