The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested a Brandi Richmond, 30, of Sanford for aggravated trafficking in illegal drugs and seized a significant amount of methamphetamine and firearms.

On May 24, 2023, agents from the MDEA York and Cumberland District Task Forces, served arrest and search warrants in Sanford related to an ongoing investigation of methamphetamine and other illegal drugs being distributed in Sanford. For the past two months, MDEA and Sanford Police have been investigating the trafficking of methamphetamine from 43 Bateman Street by Richmond. During the investigation agents conducted undercover purchases of illegal drugs from Richmond at the residence. Agents obtained an arrest warrant for Richmond charging two counts of Class B, Unlawful Trafficking Schedule W Drugs as part of the investigation. Richmond was arrested without incident during a traffic stop on Main Street, in Sanford at approximately 4:00pm. Richmond was found in possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl and $2,500 in suspected drug proceeds. A search warrant was then executed at the 43 Bateman residence. Due to the known presence of firearms at the residence during the undercover purchases, MDEA requested the assistance of the Southern Maine Response Team and Cumberland County Emergency Services Unit to safely make the initial entry into the Bateman residence.
Once the residence was secured agents conducted a search resulting in the seizure of approximately 50 grams of methamphetamine, packaging materials as well as other items associated with drug trafficking. Five firearms were located throughout the residence, three of which were loaded and in proximity of the seized drugs. Richmond was transported to the York County Jail; bail was set on the arrest warrant at $2,500 cash. Additional charges are forth coming related to the additional methamphetamine and firearms seized.
