Arrest Made in Berwick Homicide

31-year-old Daniel Lafrenier of Rochester, New Hampshire has been arrested in conjunction with the homicide of 37-year-old Mark Forest of Berwick.

From the Maine State P:olice:

On Thursday, January 12, 2023, shortly before 8:00 am, the Berwick Police Department responded to a residence on Katabel Lane in Berwick for a report of a male with a gunshot wound to the head. Berwick Police responded to the home and found 37-year-old Mark Forest of Berwick severely injured. Forest was transported to Wentworth-Douglas Hospital in Dover, New Hampshire where he was later pronounced dead.

An autopsy was conducted on Friday morning, January 13, 2023, where the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in New Hampshire ruled the death a homicide. On Thursday, the day of the shooting Maine and New Hampshire State Police Detectives, worked with Rochester, New Hampshire Police and Berwick, Maine Police throughout the morning conducting interviews in Maine and New Hampshire. From these interviews Detectives learned that 31-year-old Daniel Lafrenier of Rochester, New Hampshire was a person of interest in this case and an attempt to locate was communicated to local agencies. The York Police Department received a complaint of a subject forcing entry into a residence on the York Road in York and responded to find Daniel Lafrenier attempting to gain entry into the home. Lafrenier was transported to the York Police Department for an interview and was later charged with the Murder of Mark Forest. Lafrenier was transported to the York
County Jail and will be held without bail until his initial court appearance today.
