Rockland Police say a standoff last Friday afternoon, June 14, included lots of gunfire and luckily, no serious injuries.

From the Rockland Police Department:

Responding Officers quickly learned that several rounds had been fired in very quick succession from inside 10 Carroll’s Lane and that a male was still inside the home with firearms. It was learned the fired rounds had exited the roof of the home. Officers from the Rockland Police Department, with assistance from Maine Marine Patrol and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, worked to evacuate neighbors and set up a perimeter. Officers attempted to make contact with the male but those efforts were unsuccessful. Assistance was requested from the Maine State Police Tactical Team.
At approximately 3:00 PM, the male exited the home with multiple rifle magazines and appeared to be attempting to access a rifle case near the doorway of the home. Officer approached the male and took him into custody without incident or serious injury. The male, 23-year-old Samuel Ward, of Rockland, was arrested and transported to the Knox County Jail after being cleared at Pen Bay Medical Center. Ward was charged with several outstanding warrants, as well as new charges for Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person and Discharge of a Firearms near a Dwelling or Building.
